Environment and Social Welfare Committee:

 

The committee’s core function is to carry out activities aimed at creating a healthy, clean and aesthetically pleasant environment to the residents of Varsityville and to formulate and/or advocate for formulation and implementation of suitable policies and tools for effective management of the environment.

to have a community that enjoys a healthy, happy and comfortable life for enhancement of socio-economic, cultural and general growth of the residents and provision of;

Its work is to enhance, develop, organize and promote sporting activities through providing space (stadia and play grounds) for sports and other recreational activities.

Our Programmes:

Fellowship outreach and evangelism

Varsityville Estate host three (3) main stream churches namely St. Mark catholic Church – www.stmarkcatholicchurch.or.ke, Canon Hesbon Anglican Church (ACK) and Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Ruiru Presbytery, Ruiru East Parish – Trinity church. All the churches enhance a circular system of organized fellowship session with members in the estate. For instance, out of the eleven small Christian communities (Jumuiyas) at St. Mark Varsityville Catholic much four of them are within the estate.

VVRA has a cordial relationship with the churches who are cooperate members of the association

Annual Tree Planning and Beatification of the Estate

In tackling deforestation, land degradation, desertification and the protection of biodiversity VVR organizes annual tree planning day were every family is encouraged to adopt and nature at least five (5) trees within the estate. This initiate in geared towards providing and also attaining the SDG 15 which aims to “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss”. VVRA hopes to integrate ecosystem and biodiversity values into local planning and development processes.

In her effort to support County to develop and promote a sporting culture in the County through identification, nurturing sports talents, developing and upgrading sports infrastructure VVRA has so far created different pitches to be used by the you. And through collaborative efforts the association will be supporting VVR FC. We hope as the to seek and Promote linkages with sport bodies by partnering with them in sporting activities.
